I am fascinated by the Big Questions of psychology and literature, and the conversation between the two. In an early writing workshop, I was floored by the psychological insight my fellow writers brought to the process, plumbing the depths of character. As therapists, we look for a point of empathy with every client. The best kind of fiction offers its characters the same, challenging readers to identify with people and circumstances we never imagined we could. And that experience, in reading and writing, fosters compassion in the larger world.

My other passion is encouraging fellow makers of art. We all wrestle down the same fears, insecurities, and self-doubts. Follow me on Instagram @brittalive for thoughts on the creative process and a look inside my own.

I offer therapy and consulting via telehealth on a limited basis, specializing in working with women making life transitions or struggling with abusive relationships. I also work with artists and writers on issues related to the creative process. Please contact me using the form found on my Connect page!
